Knowing the details of a vehicle owner is crucial for various reasons, such as purchasing second-hand vehicles, resolving accident-related issues or confirming ownership claims. Several online platforms provide this information conveniently.

Methods To Check Vehicle Owner Details

Karnataka offers multiple user-friendly methods to check vehicle owner details, each designed to make the process straightforward. Here are the most commonly used methods:

Parivahan Website

The Parivahan Sewa portal is a government initiative that provides comprehensive vehicle-related information. It is ideal for obtaining detailed vehicle information, including any legal or tax-related issues. Here are the steps to check vehicle owner details via the Parivahan portal:

Visit the Parivahan Sewa website.

Navigate to "Informational Services" on the menu and click on "Know Your Vehicle Details."

Enter the vehicle's registration number, which can be found on the number plate, in the provided field and solve the captcha.

After submitting, the portal will display detailed information, including the owner's name, vehicle make and model, registration date, and more.

Using the registration number ensures you are verifying the correct vehicle.

Other Methods To Check Vehicle Details

Apart from the Parivahan website, there are two other ways to access vehicle details: SMS and the ACKO mobile app. If you don’t have internet access, you can check vehicle details via SMS by typing “VAHAN <vehicle registration number>” and sending it to 7738299899. You will receive a reply with the owner's details and other essential information.

Additionally, the ACKO mobile app provides an online option to check vehicle details, especially useful for insurance-related matters. You simply need to enter the vehicle's registration number and verify the OTP sent to your mobile to access the details.

Vehicle Registration Certificate (RC)

The Registration Certificate (RC) is a important document that confirms the registration and ownership of a vehicle in Karnataka.

Here’s what you can find in a vehicle Registration Certificate:

Owner's Name: The full name of the vehicle owner.

Vehicle Make and Model: Information about the manufacturer and the specific model.

Vehicle Class and Type: Classification such as private, commercial, or two-wheeler.

Fuel Type: The type of fuel the vehicle uses, such as petrol, diesel, or electric.

Registration Date: The date when the vehicle was first registered.

RC Expiry Date: The date when the RC needs renewal, typically every 15 years.

Insurance Details: Information regarding the vehicle's insurance policy.

PUCC Expiry Date: The expiry date of the Pollution Under Control Certificate, if applicable.
