In a major update, the Bengaluru Police on Friday arrested seven people from Bihar's Nawada district for allegedly killing a teen girl and dumping her body on a railway track. The police officials stated that all the accused are being brought back to Karnataka, adding that all of them are native citizens of Nawada district. The officials stated that the accused are being questioned for the exact reason behind the cold-blooded killing. They further stated that while one of the accused is married, the details about the others will be revealed soon.
While providing details, the officials stated that three of the identified accused are Ashiq Kumar, Mukesh, and Ranjan Mohan, reported NDTV. They further stated that the teen girl was killed at some different location, her dead body was stuffed in a suitcase, and it was brought near the railway track in a cab. However, the initial investigation had suggested that the suitcase was thrown out of the moving train.
Superintendent of Police (Bengaluru Rural) CK Baba stated that the suitcase had no ID or personal belongings. "We have begun our investigation. Though such cases typically fall under the railway police's jurisdiction, we are involved since the incident may have ties to our area. The suitcase contained only the body - no ID or personal belongings were found," Baba was quoted as saying by NDTV.
Earlier on May 21, a suitcase was found abandoned near Surya City in Anekal, leading to suspicion from the officials. They further confirmed that dead body of a teen girl was stuffed in the suitcase after she was killed by the accused. “She was strangled. The body appears to have been pushed out from a moving train. We are actively investigating the case, and our priority is to establish her identity,” Baba had stated.
“The body was found with no identification documents. Our investigation is underway, and we are looking into all possible angles, including CCTV footage, missing persons reports, and train movement data,” he added.
