Karnataka Politics: Amid an ongoing power tussle in Karnataka, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Wednesday stated that he was heading to Delhi to attend a private event. While talking to the reporters, Shivakumar asserted that there was no political importance to his visit to the national capital. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, on being asked about his plans, stated that he will visit Delhi only after being invited. The remarks from the top two leaders of the Karnataka Congress came amid an ongoing tussle for the chief minister post. However, both of them have clarified that the final decision on the issue will be taken by the top brass of the party.
Shivakumar, before flying to Delhi, stated that he has also been preparing for the party's campaign against the alleged poll rigging, adding that he was visiting Delhi to attend a private function. "Going to Delhi today for a private function; there is no political importance to this," the deputy chief minister told the reporters. “On December 14, 'Vote Chori' event is happening in Delhi. So we are taking at least 300 workers from each district to Delhi. We have to take part in large numbers. I have told the district units to make arrangements to take them to Delhi,” he added.

However, Siddaramaiah asserted that he will only visit Delhi after being invited by the top brass. "Let him (Shivakumar) go. I will go only if I receive a call. I have not received a call so far," the chief minister told the reporters. Siddaramaiah also had lunch with Congress general secretary at an event in Mysuru; however, Shivakumar stated that there was nothing wrong if the chief minister met any of the top leaders of the party.
“What’s wrong in CM meeting Venugopal, Rahul Gandhi or Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge?” the deputy chief minister stated.
