Karnataka Power Tussle: In the latest update amid the growing power rift in Karnataka, the Deputy Chief Minister, DK Shivakumar, made a cryptic post on the social media platform X, igniting a new wave of speculations as several of his loyalist MLAs are in Delhi to meet the Congress top brass.

Shivakumar wrote the post in the regional language, which said, 'Where there is effort, there is fruit; where there is devotion, there is the Lord,' in a rough translation, while his aids seek leadership change.

Along with this cryptic caption, Shivakumar posted a poster containing an excerpt from his speech at the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee office during the birth anniversary celebrations of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

The translation of the excerpt says that Shivakumar urged the party workers to remain energised, loyal to the party, and not lose confidence amid internal challenges.

While there was no clear mention of an internal power tussle, the cryptic post came a day after CM Siddaramaiah completed 2.5 years as CM, igniting debate about the long-rumoured rotational chief ministership formula that had resurfaced.

As per the sources in Congress, this has been conveyed clearly to both camps that there is no leadership change on the table, News18 reported.

On the other hand, Siddaramaiah’s loyalists held a dinner meeting at the residence of Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi to discuss leveraging the 'Ahinda Card' in support of Siddaramaiah and pressurise Congress top brass to ensure that the current CM is not sidelined.

Those present included Dr G Parameshwara, Dr HC Mahadevappa, Dinesh Gundurao, Periyapatna Venkatesh, and KN Rajanna.

BJP Takes Dig At Congress's Internal Tussle

Taking a dig at Congress's internal unrest, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Ponawalla, in a video, said, “It is Congress versus Congress once again in Karnataka. It is a tussle for the chair. It is a tussle for power."

“INC means ‘I need chair’, not Indian National Congress because the DK Shivakumar camp is trying to come to Delhi and put pressure on the high command that now it is time for them to take over as the chief ministership, and on the other hand, Siddaramaiah ji, his close MLAs, his camp is also organising all kinds of meetings and confabulations to prevent any change," he said.
