Karnataka Weather: Bengaluru and several other parts of Karnataka are likely to experience intense rainfall over the next few days, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued multiple alerts across the state. A red alert, which signals extremely heavy rain, has been issued for seven districts for Wednesday, including Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan and Kodagu.

Karnataka Weather: Orange Alert To Continue In THESE Districts

While rainfall in some of these areas is expected to reduce slightly by Thursday, Dakshina Kannada, Hassan and Kodagu will continue to be on orange alert, indicating the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain. Several other districts such as Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Davangere and Mysuru are also under orange alert on Wednesday, with Belagavi, Dharwad and Haveri remaining on the same alert on Thursday.

Karnataka Weather: Yelloe Alert Issued For Bengaluru Tumkuru And Others

Meanwhile, Bengaluru Urban and Rural, Tumakuru, Ramanagar, Kolar, Chitradurga, Chikkaballapur, Koppal and Bagalkot have been placed under yellow alert on Wednesday, warning of moderate to heavy rain. On Thursday, yellow alert has been extended to Bidar, Gadag, Kalaburagi, Vijayapura, Chikkaballapur and Kolar.

Bengaluru Weather Forecast

In Bengaluru, pre-monsoon showers on Monday morning brought waterlogging and long traffic delays. Between 8.30 AM on May 19 and May 20, the city recorded 37.2 mm rainfall, while the HAL airport station registered 46.5 mm. The IMD has predicted more moderate to heavy rainfall for the city over the next two days, along with gusty winds.

Temperature To Drop In Karnataka

The IMD has also forecast thunderstorms with lightning in parts of Coastal, North Interior and South Interior Karnataka until May 26. Temperatures are expected to drop by 2–3 degrees Celsius across the state in the coming days.

Karnataka: Public Advisory

Authorities in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi have advised fishermen not to venture into the sea until May 23 due to rough conditions. Those already at sea have been told to return to shore. In Chikkamagaluru, residents have been urged to stay away from rivers and low-lying areas as heavy rain could trigger landslides. A red alert has been issued in parts of the district for May 21, with a yellow alert in place for May 22.
