Bengaluru Namma Metro Update: On the occasion of the 70th Karnataka Rajyotsava, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is gearing up to introduce a fifth train on Bengaluru’s Namma Metro Yellow Line from November 1.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the BMRCL wrote, “On the occasion of the 70th Karnataka Rajyotsava celebrations, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is pleased to announce that the 5th Metro Train on the Yellow Line will be inducted into commercial service from November 1, 2025.”

The additional train is expected to ease overcrowding on the Yellow Line, which has been experiencing congestion during peak hours due to limited train capacity.

New Train To Cut Waiting Time And Improve Connectivity On Yellow Line

According to BMRCL officials, the addition of the fifth train is expected to reduce waiting time and improve connectivity along the 19-km Yellow Line, which runs from RV Road to Bommasandra.

“With the introduction of this 5th train, the frequency of trains on the Yellow Line during peak hours will now be every 15 minutes (instead of the present 19-minute interval). This improvement will help provide smoother and more reliable service to commuters with reduced waiting times. This change will be effective on all days,” the post added.

The fifth train set for BMRCL arrived at the depot on September 30. The coaches were transported from Kolkata-based Titagarh Rail Systems Limited on September 19 and subsequently underwent a 20-day testing period before being cleared for service, the BMRCL said.

Will It Affect First And Last Train Timings?

The BMRCL confirmed that while trains run more frequently on the Yellow Line, the schedule of first and last trains from both terminals will remain unchanged. Daily operations will continue as usual, but the reduced waiting time is expected to benefit thousands of commuters during peak hours.
