A Sanskrit teacher from Karnataka’s Sri Guru Tippeswamy Temple residential Veda school, identified as Veeresh Hiremath, has come under scrutiny after a video surfaced showing him thrashing and kicking a student for using a phone. The incident reportedly left the boy injured, yet the teacher continued to assault him.
According to jagran.com the viral clip shows that the temple’s executive officer, Gangadhar, lodged a complaint, and Nayakanahatti Police registered a case. The accused teacher subsequently went missing, prompting a police search operation. The tehsildar visited the school to assess the situation, while some parents staged protests demanding strict action.

Laxmi Hebbalkar, Karnataka’s Minister for Women and Child Welfare, has assured that stringent measures will be taken against the teacher.
"I have just learnt about this deeply disturbing incident from Nayakanahatti, where a school student was subjected to brutal assault by a teacher. No one should ever be treated in such a manner, especially not children. I will personally look into this case and ensure that strict action is taken against the person found guilty. I have also directed the officials of my department to submit a detailed report on the incident at the earliest," she said.
In a separate incident, a 9-year-old Class 5 student at St. Mary’s Public School in Sunkadakatte, Bengaluru, was allegedly assaulted by the principal and two teachers with a PVC pipe and locked in a room for being absent for two days. The incident, which reportedly caused both physical and mental trauma, occurred on October 14. The boy’s mother, Divya Shankar, filed a complaint the next day, leading to an FIR under the JJ Act, Section 118 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), and Section 315 (criminal intimidation).
The accused, principal Rakesh Kumar, teacher Chandrika, and Vijay Kumar, the school secretary and teacher, allegedly justified the assault as their method of discipline. The boy was treated medically after his parents noticed bruises. Police have issued notices to the accused for questioning and informed the education department about the case.
