Bengaluru News: The Karnataka government is moving forward with its plans to establish KHIR (Knowledge, Health, Innovation and Research) City, which is set to be located between Dabaspet and Doddaballapur, approximately 60kilometers from Bengaluru. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is expected to officially launch the project soon, as reported by Money Control.

Karnataka Industries Minister MB Patil led the first meeting of the advisory board, revealing that the city will cover a total area of 2,000 acres, with the first phase focusing on 500 acres.

Karnataka: KHIR City Project Likely To Be Launched By October

Originally scheduled for launch in August, the KHIR City project has now been postponed to September or October. The initiative aims to attract investments of around Rs 40,000 crores across various sectors and is projected to generate approximately 80,000 new jobs.

KHIR City is designed to host industries in diverse fields such as automobiles, semiconductors, aerospace and other large-scale operations. The city seeks to complement Bengaluru's burgeoning start-up ecosystem. Patil emphasised the importance of increasing economic activity in the state and stated, “Karnataka is known for its public-private partnerships and this will be further enhanced in KHIR. It will significantly contribute to the state’s GDP.”

Furthermore, Patil expressed his vision for KHIR City to be a model for others worldwide. He stated that Karnataka offers exceptional facilities and a talented workforce, making it an attractive destination for global companies. The government’s goal is to draw in international investments and establish KHIR as a benchmark city for the rest of India.
