Karnataka Weather Update: Karnataka is bracing for heavy rainfall on Wednesday as the India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in parts of Karnataka, as scattered moderate and scattered heavy to very heavy rain is likely in coastal and hilly areas today. 

The weather department has placed coastal Karnataka and the adjoining region on orange alert as rainfall in the state is expected to intensify from Wednesday, June 18. Parts of the North Interior and the South Interior of Karnataka have been placed on a yellow alert

Bengaluru Weather

The temperature in the green city dropped significantly, bringing back the good old days for residents, as it experienced weather like that in a hill station. According to the IMD, the weather in Bengaluru is likely to remain pleasant as the city braces for heavy rainfall. But as per the IMD-Bengaluru director-in-charge, N Puviarasan, the weather system will continue for the next three days, after which temperatures will rise.

Karnataka Weather Forecast

The yellow alert has been issued for the districts of North Interior Karnataka, including Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Chikkamagaluru, and Kodagu on June 18 and June 19 for moderate to heavy rainfall. The widespread rainfall with gusty winds is expected to remain in place till Saturday, and scattered rainfall with gusty winds, thunderstorms and lightning to follow on Sunday and Monday. 

KSNDMC Shares Forecast On X

Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) shared a weather report on X (formerly Twitter) for seven days and wrote, "Scattered moderate and scattered heavy & very heavy rains are likely today with gusty winds in coastal & hilly districts of the state. Inland districts are likely to experience widespread moderate rains and scattered heavy rains."ksarnataweather

The Coastal and Malnad regions experienced good rainfall on Tuesday. Bhagamandala in Kodagu district recorded the highest rainfall of 19 cm, followed by Grusoppa in Uttara Kannada with 17 cm.
