In a shocking incident on the evening of Karva Chauth, a woman was injured after a bullet accidentally discharged from her husband's service pistol at their residence in Daurala, Meerut. The husband, Sub-Inspector Robin, and his wife Deepika are now both facing legal action for negligence and misuse of a government-issued firearm.

Robin, a 2023-batch sub-inspector posted in Agra, had come home to Meerut on leave for the Karva Chauth festival. According to police officials, he brought his service pistol with him.

On Thursday, while Deepika was reportedly trying to store the pistol safely in a cupboard, it accidentally fired. The bullet struck her in the thigh, leaving her severely injured and bleeding. According to Jagran.com, Family members rushed her to SDS Global Hospital on Roorkee Road, where she is currently receiving treatment.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr. Vipin Tada has prepared a report to be sent to the Agra Police Commissioner, Deepak Kumar. The report will examine why the sub-inspector took the service pistol home without prior permission and failed to deposit it at the police station before going on leave, a violation of departmental protocols.

While the criminal investigation will be conducted in Meerut, the departmental inquiry will be handled by authorities in Agra. Based on the findings, disciplinary action may follow.
