Kashmir Weather Update: The higher reaches of Kashmir, including the popular tourist resort of Gulmarg, received fresh snowfall on Wednesday, while the plains of the valley were lashed by rain. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), erratic weather conditions are likely to continue till April 10, with chances of flash floods and landslides at a few vulnerable places and waterlogging in a few low-lying areas.
Authorities have urged residents and tourists to exercise caution and stay updated with the latest weather advisories.
Fresh Snowfall In Higher Reaches, Rain In Plains
The higher reaches of Kashmir, including the popular tourist resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir, Kupwara and Bandipora, received fresh snowfall on Wednesday, while Srinagar and other areas in the plains of the valley were lashed by rains, news agency PTI reported.
Erratic weather conditions are likely to continue till April 10, the IMD said.
Moderate Rain, Snow In Higher Reaches Till April 8
The weather department has forecast light to moderate rain and snowfall in the higher reaches till Wednesday evening. Some areas may also experience thunder, hail, and gusty winds. A few places in Kashmir may witness moderate to heavy rain, while higher reaches may witness moderate snowfall till Thursday morning.
What's Ahead?
According to the IMD, a brief spell of light rain or thundershowers is likely at scattered places on Thursday and Friday. While the weather is expected to remain generally dry from April 11 to April 16, there is a possibility of light rain at a few places during the afternoon and evening hours.
Heavy showers, even for a brief period, may lead to flash floods and landslides at a few vulnerable places and waterlogging in some low-lying areas.
