The Kedarnath Dham yatra has resumed after the blocked road between Sonprayag and Gaurikund got cleared for pedestrian movement. The officials stated that the road was cleared after the rainfall stopped for a few hours, adding that the continuous rainfall led to road blockage in several key regions. However, the officials clarified that the pilgrims will have to walk an additional 6 kilometers till the road becomes fully operational. While providing details, it stated that the devotees will have to cover a total distance of 22 kilometers to reach Kedarnath Dham.
Apart from this, the weather department has advised the locals and tourists to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences. Kedarnath Yatra was temporarily halted for the past few days due to the blockage of the road between Sonprayag and Gaurikund, and only the returning pilgrims were being brought back via an alternate walking route with the help of security forces.

"In Uttarakhand, due to the obstruction of the pilgrimage route to Kedarnath Dham, the ongoing rescue operations continued today, with SDRF safely evacuating a total of 474 people, including 338 men, 126 women, and 10 children, using ropes and other rescue equipment for their safety," SDRF Uttarakhand Police stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
Uttarakhand weather update
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday stated that several districts of Uttarakhand are likely to receive light to heavy rainfall for the next few days. While providing details, the weather department stated that while the hilly regions are likely to witness landslides, the plain regions are set to witness flood-like situations.

The IMD stated that while the rainfall is likely to provide relief from the heat, it will also lead to other issues, including waterlogging and power outages. It further advised the locals and the tourists to avoid going near the rivers to avoid any inconveniences.
