The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will today gherao Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence to protest against the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the liquor policy case.

Delhi Police, however, said the workers of AAP haven’t been permitted to hold any protest. Security has also been heightened across the national capital.

Meanwhile, the BJP has also planned a protest march in the national capital to counter AAP’s protest. The saffron party’s maga march will be led by the party’s Delhi chief Virendra Sachdeva. As per a report in NDTV, it will begin from Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium and conclude at the Delhi Secretariat.

The AAP has been carrying out a vehement protest since the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal. Protesters have been burning effigies and taking out candle marches in support of the AAP convener.  

The party has also launched a social media campaign by changing the display picture of their social media profiles. The picture shows Kejriwal behind bars with the caption-- “Modi ka Sabse Bada Dar Kejriwal (Modi’s biggest fear, Kejriwal)”.

The party also urged people to participate in the campaign in large numbers to ‘save’ the constitution and democracy.

The ED on March 21 arrested Kejriwal after more than two hours of questioning at his residence. The case pertains to alleged corruption and money laundering in formulating and executing the Delhi government's excise policy for 2021-22 which was later scrapped.
