In a unique protest, AAP councillors arrived with boats and garbage piles at the Municipal Corporation House meeting on Monday to highlight waterlogging and other civic issues in Delhi. They raised slogans over sanitation, garbage management and the city's drainage situation inside the House.

The demonstration by the councillors comes after parts of the national capital continued to witness waterlogging, with flooded roads disrupting traffic movement for commuters in areas of Delhi.

To protest against the waterlogged roads in Delhi, the AAP councillors brought boats into the House and staged protests by boating in them in the meeting. The councillors were asked to adhere to the rules of the House after the protest.

In another point raised by the AAP, the party highlighted the issues concerning sanitation and waste management, adding that the residents are facing hardships during the rains due to poor management by the corporation.

Meanwhile, torrential rain and thunderstorms had hit Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad on Monday. High-intensity showers caused waterlogging in multiple areas across the national capital, resulting in slower traffic, with people struggling to commute and, in a few cases, pushing their vehicles. 

In a video circulated on social media platforms, school-going girls were seen pushing their school van from a waterlogged street of Delhi's Sangam Vihar area after the vehicle got stuck.
