Kejriwal CBI Arrest: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) formally arrested Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday in connection with a corruption case linked to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam. The CBI made the formal arrest after obtaining permission from a Delhi court. The court had allowed the central probe agency to examine the AAP supremo in the courtroom and place on record the material they had for the arrest.
The CBI also sought Kejriwal's five-day custody, the order for which was reserved for later in the day by Special Judge Amitabh Rawat. Kejriwal was produced before the court from Delhi's Tihar Jail, where he is presently lodged for his alleged involvement in a money-laundering case stemming from the excise policy "scam". The money-laundering probe is being carried out by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Delhi Excise Policy Scam Latest Developments
- On Wednesday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is facing money-laundering charges linked to the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy, withdrew a plea he had moved before the Supreme Court against the Delhi High Court's June 21 order wherein it put an interim stay on the grant of regular bail to him.
- CM Kejriwal's counsel, Senior Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, said a fresh petition would be moved to challenge the high court's final order in the matter passed on June 25 (Tuesday). The final order stayed the regular bail granted to Kejriwal by the trial court on June 20.
- During his appearance before Delhi's Rouse Avenue court on Wednesday, Kejriwal claimed efforts were made to project that he had thrown his fellow AAP leader and former Delhi deputy CM Manish Sisodia, another accused in the excise "scam" probes, under the bus.
- "It is being shown in the media, citing CBI sources, that I have put the entire blame on Manish Sisodia in a statement. I have not given any statement that Sisodia is guilty or anyone else is guilty. I have said Sisodia is innocent, AAP is innocent, I am innocent," Kejriwal told the court, as per news agency PTI.
- "Their entire plan is to defame us in front of the media. Please record that all these have been run in media through CBI sources," he said.
- Countering Kejriwal's claims, the CBI counsel said that submissions by the agency were made on record and that no CBI source stated anything.
