Kerala: Man Kills 55-Year-Old Mother-In-Law With Spade, Says She Ruined His Marriage

In a disturbing case from Kerala’s Pathanamthitta district, a 39-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly murdering his mother-in-law, whom he held responsible for the breakdown of his marriage.

The accused, identified as Sunil, reportedly attacked 54-year-old Ushamani following a heated argument at their home in Vechoochira. The two got into a verbal altercation which escalated quickly. In a fit of rage, Sunil struck his mother-in-law on the head with a spade, killing her on the spot. The incident occurred around 3 pm, according to a Times of India report.

Sunil and his wife had been living separately for over four years. He allegedly believed that Ushamani was the reason behind the separation and had long harboured resentment against her.

The Vechoochira Police arrested Sunil soon after the incident. While he remains in custody and is being questioned, authorities say he has not confessed to the crime as of now. The investigation is ongoing.
