Meppadi Wayanad Landslide Update: Massive landslides struck various hilly areas near Meppadi in Kerala's Wayanad district on Tuesday. At least 45 people have been reported dead so far, which includes three children. Authorities suspect that the actual death toll may be significantly higher as many affected areas are inaccessible now. Hundreds of people are suspected to be trapped, according to reports from news agency PTI.

The landslides occurred at around 1:00 AM and 4:00 AM in Mundakai. Vehicles and parts of Churalmala town were washed away, with many houses destroyed. Vellarmala School was completely submerged. Over 400 families have been affected, and many people are reported missing or injured.
