The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Kerala, on Tuesday, December 23, released the draft electoral roll, which was prepared after the Special Intensive Revision was done in the state. 

Chief Electoral Officer of the state, Ratan U. Khelkar, said that over 24.08 lakh voters have been excluded from the draft list following the completion of the enumeration process. In total, 2,54,42,352 people filled the form during the enumeration phase, which started from November 4 and went up to December 18.  

Enumeration forms were distributed to all eligible voters with a response rate of 91.35 per cent. Around 8.65 per cent, or 24,80,503 voters, are yet to submit their forms.

The CEO’s office further clarified that out of the total number of people who have been excluded, 6,49,885 voters have been deceased, while 6,45,548 voters were untraceable during the enumeration process. The remaining exclusions relate to non-submission of forms and verification-related issues.

The draft SIR electoral roll currently contains approximately 2.54 crore names. Booth-wise lists of voters who could not be traced have been prepared and shared with election officials.

Grievances To Be Heard Till Jan 22

The Election Commission has set January 22 as the deadline for submitting objections, seeking corrections, or filing applications for inclusion in the draft electoral roll. Electors whose names do not appear in the list can request inclusion by completing the prescribed forms and declarations under the Commission’s guidelines.

To maintain transparency, the Chief Electoral Officer said arrangements are underway to supply assembly constituency-wise voter lists to all recognised political parties.

Voters may verify their registration status through the Election Commission of India website, the CEO Kerala portal, or by contacting Electoral Registration Officers and Booth Level Officers.

The final electoral roll for Kerala is expected to be released on February 21, 2026.
