Kerala Weather: At least 308 people have been killed in the landslide-devastated villages in Kerala's Wayanad during the ongoing monsoon mayhem in the state. Meanwhile, relentless rain continues to lash Ernakulam district with authorities in Kochi on high alert, prepared to respond to any emergencies that may arise. Amidst the constant showers, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert till August 6 across the state. Kasaragod, Kannur, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Malappuram, Thrissur, Palakkad, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kottayam, and other areas have received a yellow alert.

In Kochi, the weather prediction indicates a generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers. The maximum temperature is expected to be 30 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature is likely to be around 25 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity fluctuated between 81 per cent and 82 per cent.

Kerala Weather: Kochi Weekly Weather Forecast

The city is likely to experience week-long rainfall, with temperatures expected to remain constant. Kochi was predicted to receive one or two spells of rain or thundershowers on Saturday (August 3), and today (August 4), it is expected to witness the same.

Later, on August 5, August 6, and August 7, Kochi is again predicted to have a generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers. The temperatures are expected to remain constant on these days, with the minimum being 25 degrees Celsius and the maximum being 30 degrees Celsius.

Towards the end of the week, on August 8 and August 9, the city is likely to witness a generally cloudy sky with the possibility of rain or thunderstorms. The temperatures are expected to range between 25 degrees Celsius and 30 degrees Celsius.

Wayanad Landslides

The Indian Air Force airlifted one ZAWER and four REECO radars from Siachen and Delhi on Saturday to expedite search operations in the landslide-affected areas of Wayanad.

As of Friday, Kerala Health Minister Veena George reported that the death toll from the landslides on July 30 in Chooralmala and Mundakkai has reached 308. The latest figures include 215 bodies and 143 body parts recovered, comprising 98 males, 87 females, and 30 children.

Post-mortem procedures have been completed for 212 bodies and 140 body parts, with 148 bodies already identified by relatives.
