Himachal Cloudbursts: The death toll has increased to nine with the recovery of a body from Rajban village in Mandi. On the intervening night of July 31 and August 1, a series of cloudbursts followed by flash floods wreaked havoc in Kullu's Nirmand, Sainj and Malana; Mandi's Padhar and Shimla's Rampur subdivision of Himachal Pradesh. 410 rescuers from teams of the Army, NDRF, SDRF, ITBP, CISF, Himachal Pradesh Police and home guards are currently involved in the hunt for about 45 missing people in these districts with the help of drones, according to officials.

"There was a review meeting, every agency participated. There will be work on war footing today. All the task forces have been assigned different works. JCBs have arrived. We are making bridges, ropeways at rivers. We are trying to recover as much bodies as possible. The rescue operation is ongoing," said Home Guard Commandant RP Nepta about the ongoing rescue operations, as quoted by news agency PTI.

An alert has been issued for thunderstorms and heavy rain at isolated places in six districts of the state: Kangra, Una, Mandi, Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur. During the last 24 hours in the state, 67.2 mm rainfall was recorded in Paonta Sahib, 55.6 mm in Dharamsala, 46.3 mm in Kangra, 43.5 mm in Bilaspur and 18.5 mm in Barthin, jagran.com reported.
Himachal Cloudbursts: 116 Roads Closed
116 roads including two national highways are currently closed in the state. NH 70 and 37 roads in Mandi, NH 305 and 34 roads in Kullu and 27 roads in Shimla are closed. 93 transformers in Kullu, 37 in Mandi, 15 in Rampur and 15 in Hamirpur were reported to be faulty due to which there is no supply of electricity in hundreds of houses.
Himachal Cloudbursts: Possibility Of Heavy Rain On August 7-8
The weather department has predicted heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms at many places on August 7 and 8. The minimum temperature in the state has dropped by one to two degrees and the maximum temperature has dropped by one to six degrees. A drop of 5.6 degrees has been recorded in Bhuntar, 5.2 degrees in Rekongpeo, 4.6 degrees in Kalpa and 4.8 degrees in Chamba.

On Friday, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, who visited Samej village, announced an immediate relief of Rs 50,000 for the victims and said they would be given Rs 5,000 monthly for rent for the next three months along with gas, food and other essential items.
He also said that 115 houses, 23 cowsheds, 10 shops and three fish farms have perished in this disaster besides motorable, footbridges and vehicles in cloudburst since Wednesday night. The state has suffered a loss of Rs 662 crore since the onset of monsoon on June 27.
