Kerala Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain alert for several districts of Kerala for the next few days. The weather department stated that these regions are expected to witness rainfall due to the formation of a cyclonic circulation over the Arabian Sea, adding that the coastal regions are also set to experience thunderstorms and gusty winds. The continuous rainfall is likely to lead to issues like waterlogging and power outages in multiple regions. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid inconveniences.

Kerala Weather Forecast Till October 15

October 12- While providing details, the IMD stated that several districts, including Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, and Wayanad, are set to witness heavy rainfall on Sunday.

October 13- Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, and Wayanad are set to witness heavy rainfall, along with thunderstorms and strong surface winds.

October 14- Pathanamthitta and Kottayam districts are likely to experience heavy rainfall on Tuesday.

October 15- The weather department stated that the Ernakulam and Idukki districts will witness heavy rainfall on Wednesday.

The weather department stated that several districts are set to witness rainfall till October 17, further advising the residents to stay cautious. "Heavy rainfall (7-11 cm in 24 hours) is very likely to occur at one or two places in Kerala from October 12 to 17," the IMD stated. It also warned that similar conditions could affect Lakshadweep on October 11 and 12, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds.

Authorities have cautioned the public about possible mudslides, landslides, and flash floods in hilly areas. The weather department has advised the fishermen to maintain a distance from the water bodies and limit their financial activities for the next few days. Apart from Kerala, several other southern states, including Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, are also likely to witness rainfall.
