Kerala Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday stated that most of the Kerala districts are likely to witness moderate to heavy rainfall for the next few days. The weather department stated that along with heavy rainfall, the coastal districts are also set to witness thunderstorms and gusty winds. The continuous rainfall is expected to lead to flood-like situations in the low regions and waterlogging and power outages in some of the key cities. The IMD has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.

While providing details, the weather department stated that several districts, including Ernakulam, Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod, are set to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall for the next few days. Apart from the rainfall, these districts are also set to witness thunderstorms and strong surface winds, leading to inconvenience to the residents.

Apart from these districts, several other districts are also set to witness light to moderate rainfall. The IMD stated that the remaining eight districts of the state are likely to witness moderate to heavy rainfall. The weather department stated that the continuous rainfall has led to a flood-like situation in the Idukki district.

Several regions of the district, including Nedumkandam, Kumily, and Kattappana, have witnessed severe waterlogging due to the downpour. The authorities stated that the residents of these areas have been shifted to the relief camps, further advising the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.

It also suggested the fishermen maintain a distance from the water bodies for the next few days. The IMD stated that apart from Kerala, several other states, including Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu, are set to witness moderate to heavy rainfall for the next few days.
