Kerala Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that Kerala is not likely to witness heavy rain for the next five to six days. However, the weather department clarified that some of the coastal districts are expected to receive light rain, along with thunderstorms and lightning. It further stated that the temperature in these districts is expected to drop by two to three degrees Celsius. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings, especially during the lightning and strong surface winds. The IMD has also stated that the coastal districts of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka are also likely to witness light to moderate rain in the upcoming days.

While providing details, the weather department stated that several districts, including Thrissur, Malappuram, and Kozhikode, are also likely to witness light rain in the upcoming days. It further stated that the districts of the Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts are expected to receive strong winds with a speed of 35 to 45 kmph. Apart from this, these regions are also expected to witness lightning and thunderstorms.

The IMD has advised the residents of these districts to keep the windows and doors closed during the rain or lightning. The weather department further advised them to not stand near doors and windows and avoid touching walls or floors during the poor weather conditions. It also advised the fishermen to follow the guidelines and maintain a distance from the water bodies to avoid inconvenience.

The weather department has stated that the continuous rainfall in the coastal regions is likely to lead to waterlogging in the lower regions. The IMD also stated that apart from Kerala, several other states, including Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh, are also likely to witness light to moderate rainfall.
