Kerala Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday stated that several regions of Kerala are likely to receive light to heavy rainfall in the upcoming few days. The weather department informed that these regions will also witness gusty winds along with thunderstorms during this period of time. The weather change is likely to reduce temperature by two to three days, providing a relief from the scorching heat.
The weather department also stated that while multiple districts of Kerala are likely to receive rainfall, some of the districts are also expected to witness a surge in temperature. The Central Meteorological Department stated that a yellow alert has been issued for several districts, stating that the rainfall is expected till May 3. While providing details, it stated that several regions of Malappuram and Kozhikode districts are likely to receive moderate rain with strong winds on Thursday and Friday.
It further stated that several isolated regions are likely to witness strong winds with a speed of 30 to 40 kmph on Thursday, adding that several districts, including Palakkad, Malappuram, and Wayanad, are likely to witness thunderstorms till May 3. The weather department advised the residents of these regions to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.
Apart from this, a yellow alert has also been issued for other multiple districts, including Kollam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, Kasaragod, and Eeni. It stated that while these districts are likely to witness a surge in temperature, the residents might also experience thunderstorms with gusty winds till May 2. It further advised the residents to close the doors and windows during strong winds and thunderstorms, further suggesting they follow the guidelines.
Apart from Kerala, the weather department has also stated that several other states, including Telangana, West Bengal, Odisha, and Bihar, are also likely to receive light to heavy rain in the upcoming days.
