Oxford Global Cities Index List: Ninety-one Indian cities, among others, have made it to the list published by Oxford Economics' Global Cities Index. This index offers a systematic framework for evaluating the advantages and disadvantages of urban economies and covers around 1,000 of the biggest cities worldwide. Each city's total score is determined by adding up the five areas of the index: governance, quality of life, human capital, environment, and economics.

Surprisingly, major Indian cities like Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi are ranked lower than Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Thrissur, and Kottayam in the Oxford Economics Global Cities Index in terms of liveability and attractiveness.

How 'Quality Of Life' Is Determined?

Comprehending the rankings requires an understanding of the "Quality of Life" metric. It gauges the advantages of city life as well as the wellbeing of its citizens, taking into account their access to facilities, financial, and health results.

The national capital Delhi is placed 838, while Mumbai, the financial centre of India, is ranked 915 when it comes to quality of life parametre. However, Hyderabad received 882, while Bengaluru, India's IT hub, received 847. While cities like Thiruvananthapuram are ranked 748, Kottayam (753), Thrissur (757) and Kochi (765).

In comparison to other Indian cities, Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru have achieved higher overall rankings while having lower quality of life scores. Bengaluru is at 411, Mumbai is at 427, and Delhi is at 350.
