Kochi News: A six-month-old baby girl, identified as Delna Maria Sara, was found with her throat slit inside her family home in Karukutty, Angamaly. The infant was immediately rushed to Apollo Hospital, Angamaly, but she succumbed to her injuries despite medical efforts.

According to police, the baby was found injured while lying beside her grandmother. Her mother, Ruth, was in the kitchen when she discovered the infant bleeding and called for help. Delna’s father, Antony, was also at home during the incident.

The grandmother, who was in a weak physical condition when police arrived, has been admitted to hospital for treatment. Unconfirmed reports suggest she may be suffering from mental health issues, though authorities have not verified this.

Police have registered a case and begun an investigation to determine the exact circumstances that led to the baby’s death. The cause and sequence of events remain under inquiry.

In separate news, Two taxi drivers were arrested and two police officers suspended after a Mumbai tourist alleged harassment by taxi drivers at Munnar hill station. The woman, Janvi, an assistant professor, said in an Instagram video that her cab was stopped by local drivers claiming online taxis were banned. She alleged that police officers present refused to help and instead asked her to hire a local cab.

Following the viral video, Munnar Police filed a case and suspended ASI Saju Paulose and Grade SI George Kurian for negligence. District Police Chief K.M. Sabu Mathew confirmed strict action, while Tourism Minister P.A. Mohamed Riyas termed the incident “unfortunate.” Two accused drivers, Vinayakan (44) and Vijayakumar (41), have been arrested, and efforts are on to trace a third suspect. Authorities have also strengthened tourist safety measures in Munnar.
