Kohima Hornbill Traffic Advisory: In view of the influx of crowd during the 10-day Hornbill festival starting December 1, the Kohima traffic police has issued a detailed traffic advisory regarding restrictions, diversions and security plans to manage the movement.
Kohima Hornbill Traffic Advisory: Ban On Heavy Vehicles
The entry of heavy vehicles will be banned in Kohima city from December 1 to December 10.
-Daily 7 am to 10 pm (1–10 Dec): No heavy vehicles allowed inside Kohima town.
-Heavy vehicles coming from Manipur will be diverted via:
Kidima → Chakhabama → BSF/Keyake → NBCC/High Court Meriema → 10 Mile → Peducha

Y-Junction Phoolbari to Razhü Point - the stretch will be completely closed from 4 pm to 9 pm every day during the 10-day celebration of the Hornbill festival.
Hornbill Festival Traffic Advisory: Diversions In Kohima
The vehicle diversion will remain in place from 4 pm to 9 pm from December 1 to December 10. The Diversions are as follows-
-Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs): Diverted via a new route beside Khuochiezie (Local Ground).
-Heavy public utility vehicles towards the High School area: Diverted from TCP Gate.
No entry from New Market Road to New NST.
-City buses (south-bound): Will terminate at Phoolbari.
-City buses (north-bound): Will terminate at Razhü Point.
Kohima Hornbill Traffic Management: Parking Details
Here are the details on the category-wise parking facility
-Z (VVIPs): Main Arena/WW-II Museum
-X (Heads of Departments): Parking near Gate-2
-Y (General attendees): Parking near Gate-2
-Organiser: Amphitheatre
-Artist: Amphitheatre
-Vendors/Service Providers: Entry via Japfu Christian College; exit via Imagiland
-PWDs: Parking near Gate-2
Parking Advisory To Drivers
- Cars with valid passes may enter through Gate-1, with parking near Gate-2. Vendor car passes will not be allowed entry through Gate-1 and must enter through Japfu Christian College via Legislators’ Park road and exit through Imagiland, and the entry is only permitted before 9 am and after 6 pm.
- Z-category vehicles may enter the main arena through Gate 2 and park near the Arena/WW-II Museum.
- The vehicles organiser and Artist may enter via Gate-1 through Imagiland and park at the Amphitheatre.
- X, Y and PWD pass holders will park near Gate-2.
- Drivers must paste contact numbers on vehicle windshields.
- Vehicles parked on the NH within the Right of Way between Phesama check gate and Kisama will be towed without warning under Section 127 of the Motor Vehicles Act, with owners required to bear damages and pay Rs 1500 towing fee and a Rs 500 penalty.
