An entrepreneur took advantage of the opportunity to present Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw with a business proposal written on tissue paper on a midnight flight from Delhi to Kolkata on February 2. The railway ministry was immediately interested in his idea and quickly arranged a meeting.
“Sir, if you allow, I would like to present how railways can be an integral part in the supply chain of AFR (alternative fuel and raw material) to cement plants and also contribute to our Prime Minister’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan,” Satnaliwala wrote to Vaishnaw.

Since that was the only piece of paper he could find at the moment, he quickly wrote a proposal on it.
Akshay Satnaliwala, a Kolkata-based businessman, pitched carrying solid and other waste via railway as a cheaper mode of transportation, and to his surprise, he received a call from Eastern Railway general manager Milind K Deouskar's office within six minutes of landing at Kolkata Airport. A meeting with Deouskar and other officials was set for February 6.
An official told news agency PTI that Satnaliwala was met by Eastern Railway general manager Milind K Deouskar and other senior officers at the ER headquarters here, where they discussed the freight prospects proposed by his company.
The director of a solid waste management company in West Bengal, Satnaliwala, provided an explanation of the schematic flow of solid waste to various industries with potential buyers in different parts of the country, such as Raipur in Chhattisgarh and Rajgangpur in Odisha, and other clusters through the railways, according to Eastern Railway Spokesperson Kaushik Mitra.
