The body of a class 1 boy, who went missing from his school on January 30, was found in a pond about 400 metres away from his school in West Bengal's Purulia district. After more investigation, the police learned startling details about the incident, although they still believed it was a drowning case. The little boy was killed.
A class one student from a private school in Ghastoria, in the Purulia district of West Bengal, went missing on January 30 during lunch. His body was discovered a few metres from the school in a remote pond. The child was allegedly murdered and hit on the head, according to the post-mortem report. When the police started looking into the reported murder, they discovered that the young boy had been killed by a class eight student at the same school.

Since the student had not attended class on the day of the incident, the police suspected that an eighth grader was involved in the murder. After being questioned by the police, the student allegedly admitted to killing the boy. The motive for the student's death was shockingly obvious. The boy killed the class one student in order to get a day off from school because he believed that if someone died at the school, they would get a holiday, according to Purulia Superintendent of Police Abhijit Banerjee.
The eighth-grade student who had moved into the hostel a week before expressed a desire to return home. The students used to reside in the school hostel. According to the police, the boy was taken to a secluded pond by the student, who then struck him on the head and threw him in.
Yudhishthir Mahato, the school's head teacher, stated that the boy had just moved into the hostel and that "we did not see anything unusual" and "don't know much about him."
"It is clear from the probe that this boy is responsible. We initially thought that he died by drowning. But it later emerged that this Class 8 boy was missing after the break. The probe then revealed that he was involved," the headmaster said.
