The four-storey structure in Vidyasagar Colony was evacuated by a combined Calcutta Municipal Corporation and local police team last month after cracks were discovered.
The building is located in the Calcutta Municipal Corporation's Ward 99. Some of the building's residents, according to the locals, returned a few days ago. Police have reportedly stated that no one was inside the premises when the event occurred.
The freshly painted structure slanted to the left, dangling over another single-story apartment.
Local MLA and Mayor-in-Council Debabrata Majumdar, Ward 99 councillor Mitali Banerjee, and Netaji Nagar police officials raced to the scene as news of the leaning structure circulated this afternoon.
