The Kolkata Metro authorities on Friday announced that two new Dalian rakes have been introduced on the Blue Line to enhance operational efficiency. The authority stated that the recent changes will provide convenience to the residents in these regions. It further informed that the latest addition has taken the total number of Dalian rakes in the Kolkata Metro network to five.

The authority stated that both the rakes underwent inspections by the officials before being introduced into service. The electrical inspector did the inspection work on March 27, ensuring the guidelines of the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) Regulation are properly followed. While providing details, the authority stated that the rakes started their first journeys from Noapara station. They further stated that while MR-504 departed at 11.58 am, MR-512 departed at 12.35 pm.

The rakes reached Kavi Subhash Metro station at 12.56 pm and 1.39 pm, respectively. However, the authority stated that MR-504 left Kavi Subhash at 1:01 pm and reached Dakshineswar at 2:05 pm on its return journey. Similarly, MR-512 departed at 1.41 pm and later arrived at Dakshineswar at 2.45 pm. They further confirmed that these rakes have improved features and are designed in a manner that offers a smoother and more comfortable ride.

The authority stated that the doors in the present rakes are 100 mm wider than the previous ones, enabling better passenger movement during peak hours. It further stated that the present rakes will provide convenience to the commuters, especially in the peak hours. The recently added rakes also feature better seating capacity, and extra seats are provided for senior citizens as well as specially-abled passengers.

Apart from this, the latest rakes are equipped with better air conditioning, designed interiors with uniform illumination, and noise reduction features. The authority stated that these changes will promote the use of public transport among the residents.
