Kolkata Metro News: Passengers using the North-South line of Kolkata Metro will have to bear inconvenience due to scheduled work on the track, starting from the night of August 30 to the evening of August 31.
Metro trains will not operate between Mahanayak Uttam Kumar (Tollygunge) and Shahid Khudiram (Birji) stations from 10 pm on August 30 to 4 pm on August 31, as maintenance work is carried out to improve track switching at Shahid Khudiram station.
Kolkata Metro Service Update: Why Is Kolkata Metro Carrying Out Work
After cracks in pillars at Kavi Subhash Metro station were found a month ago, the Kolkata Metro has been operating Blue Line trains between Dakshineswar and Shahid Khudiram stations. Due to this adjustment, trains from Dakshineswar terminate at Shahid Khudiram, and empty trains are redirected to Kavi Subhash station for line switching, resulting in significant delays ranging from 10 to 40 minutes on the Blue Line.
Kolkata Metro Services Hit On August 30-31; Here’s Current Situation
Due to ongoing issues at Kavi Subhash station, some trains from Dakshineswar are being short-terminated at Mahanayak Uttam Kumar (Tollygunge) instead of proceeding to Shahid Khudiram. This decision aims to maintain service frequency and minimize delays on the Blue Line.
