Kolkata Metro: P. Uday Kumar Reddy, the General Manager of Kolkata Metro, conducted a trolley inspection of the Esplanade-Sealdah section of the East-West corridor on Tuesday. This segment is nearing completion following several incidents of subsidence.

Once fully operational, the East-West corridor, also known as the Green Line, will connect Howrah Maidan to Salt Lake Sector 5. Currently, the metro operates in two separate sections: Howrah Maidan-Esplanade and Sealdah-Sector 5, with construction on the Esplanade-Sealdah stretch progressing rapidly.

During the inspection, Reddy praised KMRCL for their efforts in reaching this important stage and expressed his satisfaction with the ongoing progress. He is optimistic about the early commissioning of the entire Green Line.

Previously, on November 9, Reddy visited the Bowbazar site, where the subsidence incidents had occurred.

Meanwhile, Winter remains elusive in Bengal despite being 10 days into the month of Poush. Kolkata's minimum temperature stays around 17–18 degrees Celsius, failing to deliver a wintry feel. South Bengal experiences cloudy skies and light rain in coastal districts, while North Bengal faces dense fog in five districts, including Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri. Humidity levels range from 58 per cent to 93 per cent. Successive western disturbances and cyclonic circulation have disrupted cold northern winds. Although temperatures may dip slightly to 14–15 degrees Celsius due to a new disturbance, severe winter chill remains unlikely this year.
