Kolkata-Srinagar Flight: An IndiGo flight travelling from Kolkata to Srinagar made an emergency landing at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, on Wednesday after a suspected fuel leak was detected mid-air. The flight, operating as 6E-6961, was carrying 166 passengers and crew members.
Airport authorities confirmed that the aircraft landed safely around 4:10 PM and all passengers were safely evacuated. No injuries were reported and normal airport operations resumed shortly after the incident.
The Times Of India report cited LBSI Airport Director Puneet Gupta as stating that, the pilot of the flight noticed signs of a possible fuel leak and immediately contacted Air Traffic Control (ATC) in Varanasi to request priority landing. After clearance was granted, the aircraft was guided to a safe landing.
Following the landing, IndiGo’s technical team carried out a detailed inspection of the aircraft to identify and repair the issue. Meanwhile, passengers were asked to remain in the arrival hall until further arrangements were made.

In an official statement, IndiGo said the flight made a precautionary landing due to a “suspected technical issue.” The airline confirmed that the aircraft was grounded for safety checks and that an alternate plane had been arranged to continue the journey.
“Safety of our passengers, crew and aircraft is our top priority,” IndiGo said, adding that the airline appreciates passengers’ patience and cooperation during the delay.
Authorities have confirmed that the situation is now under control and necessary actions have been taken.
