In another update, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) imposed a 15 per cent water cut on Saturday and Sunday, December 14 and 15 in areas under its jurisdiction. The water supply cut has also been implemented in areas under the Thane and Bhiwandi Municipal Corporations. It is because the BMC supplies water to the affected areas.

According to the officials, the cut was mandated due to some malfunction at the Pise sub-station. The malfunction took place around 1 am on Saturday. This led to the shutdown of six out of the 20 pumps at the BMC's Pise pumping station, disrupting the supplies.
