Heavy rain continues to lash Kolkata as residents struggle to maintain their normal life due to the widespread waterlogging issues across the city. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for July 9 and July 10, as the city is expected to witness more rain in the coming days. 

The weather Department has issued an alert for heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms. Cloudy skies with chances of one or two spells of rain or thundershowers are expected on Wednesday. A yellow alert is issued for thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (30–40 kmph). The city is likely to experience similar weather over the next few days as the sky is to remain cloudy till July 14, as per the forecast by IMD.

Kolkata Weather Forecast

A yellow alert will remain in effect on Thursday as light rain is expected in the city. The weather forecast by the Meteorological Department has no warning for Friday, but spells of rain are expected on July 11. One or two spells of rain are expected till July 14 under generally cloudy skies, but there is no weather warning for the said days. 

Travel Advisory

Authorities have advised residents to exercise caution amid ongoing rainfall, urging them to avoid low-lying areas prone to flooding and allow extra time for travel. Residents are also encouraged to stay updated with official weather forecasts and follow instructions from local authorities, who are closely monitoring the situation in anticipation of persistent rainfall throughout the week.
