Kota Suicide: A 17-year-old student named Ayush Jaiswal, who was preparing for the IIT-JEE exam, has taken his own life by hanging himself in his room in Kota, Rajasthan. The young man, hailing from Motihari, Bihar, was residing at a paying guest house near Samrat Chowk in the Mahaveer Nagar area to focus on his studies.

According to the local police, the incident came to light when Jaiswal's friends alerted the paying guest house owner after he failed to come out of his room until Saturday night. "A boy preparing for a competitive exam committed suicide on Saturday night. He was found hanging in his room. No suicide note has been recovered yet," stated Mahaveer Nagar SHO Mahendra Maru.

Upon receiving the information, the police reached the spot, broke the door lock, and found the student hanging. They immediately brought him down and rushed him to the New Medical College Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

This incident marks the 11th suicide by a student preparing for competitive exams in Kota, a renowned education hub, this year.

In a separate case, The Supreme Court has rejected claims that the recent student suicides in Kota were due to the NEET-UG 2024 exam results. The court criticised the "unnecessary emotional arguments" made by the petitioners seeking a CBI probe into alleged irregularities, stating the suicides were not linked to the test outcomes.
