Bima Sakhi Yojana Launch: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Life Insurance Corporation of India's Bima Sakhi Yojana at an event in Haryana’s Panipat today (December 9). The event is expected to be attended by Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, and other ministers from both the central and state governments.
Ahead of the launch, PM Modi took to X and wrote, “We are committed to the empowerment of mothers, sisters, and daughters across the country. In this series, I will get the opportunity to launch the Bima Sakhi Yojana in Panipat, Haryana, at around 2 p.m. today. During this time, I will also lay the foundation stone and inaugurate many other projects.”
LIC Bima Sakhi Yojana: All You Need To Know
The LIC Bima Sakhi Yojana is designed to promote financial inclusion among women, especially in rural areas, by providing training to women, enabling them to become agents for life insurance schemes.
The scheme aims to provide training for women aged between 18-70 who have completed Class 10th, preparing them to become LIC agents. Participants will receive a stipend for the first three years, with a focus on enhancing financial literacy and awareness.
Upon finishing their training, these women will have the opportunity to qualify for roles as LIC Development Officers. The initiative will provide women with access to vital insurance products while simultaneously achieving the broader objective of financial empowerment.
LIC Bima Sakhi Yojana: Benefits
The women will receive a monthly payment of Rs 7,000 in the first year. In the second year, this amount will decrease to Rs 6,000 per month, and by the third year, they will receive Rs 5,000 per month. Along with the monthly payments, they will also be given an additional incentive of Rs 2,100. The program will be initially launched in Haryana and gradually implemented across the country.
LIC Bima Sakhi Yojana: Eligibility
To register for LIC Bima Sakhi Yojana, women must be aged between 18 and 50 years. Additionally, a minimum educational qualification of passing the 10th standard is required.
