Uttarakhand experienced its first snowfall of the season as light snow covered the Char Dhams, including Badrinath and Kedarnath, as well as surrounding peaks. The weather shift, driven by an active Western Disturbance, caused temperatures to plummet across the state. Cold winds sweeping through lower regions added to the winters, marking a sharp change after months of dry weather.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted partial to full cloud cover across the state, with light to moderate showers expected in many areas. The minimum temperature has already fallen significantly, with night temperatures in Dehradun dipping three degrees Celsius below normal. As clouds gather and rain becomes likely in the plains, the mercury is expected to drop further, offering a respite from the dry cold that prevailed through October and November.
