The BJP’s CEC meeting, which took place on Monday, gave final shape to the party’s second list of over 90 candidates for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls. As per the sources, cited by Jagran.com, candidates from seven states were discussed in the meeting of BJP’s top brass and an announcement in this regard could be made soon.
In the meeting, apart from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, party President JP Nadda, Union Ministers Anurag Thakur, Pralhad Joshi, Nityanand Rai, MP Sushil Modi, CR Patil, Telangana Party President Kishan Reddy, Leader of Opposition in Himachal Pradesh Jairam Thakur, Himachal Pradesh in-charge Shrikant Sharma, former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa were present in the meeting.
As many as 11 seats in Gujarat, where candidates haven’t been declared yet, were discussed in the meeting. Candidates have reportedly been finalised on seven seats. Four candidates are likely to be announced in Madhya Pradesh too.
The names of candidates for 25 seats in Maharashtra, eight in Telangana, four in Himachal and all 28 seats in Karnataka were also discussed.
BJP has named 195 candidates in its first list, which was released on March 2. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will seek his third straight term in Lower House from Varanasi. Of the 195 candidates, 34 are ministers from the Center and States, while two are former chief ministers who are on the list.

In 2019, the BJP-led National Democratic (NDA) won a total of 303 seats, leaving the grand-old party behind at 52 seats.
