A 30-year-old man illegally crossed the Line of Control (LoC) into Pakistan to meet a woman he had fallen in love with on a social networking site. While the man from UP’s Aligarh cites love as the motivation behind his actions, authorities in the neighbouring country are investigating the reasons behind his illegal entry.

The man, arrested by Pakistan’s Punjab Police in Mandi Bahauddin city, has been identified as Badal Babu, a resident of Village Nagla Khatkari in Aligarh.

According to India Today, Pakistani authorities stated that Babu admitted to crossing into Pakistan out of desperation to meet the woman with whom he had developed a romantic relationship. He was arrested on December 27 after failing to produce valid travel documents. Babu was charged under Sections 13 and 14 of Pakistan’s Foreigners Act, 1946. He was subsequently presented before the court, which remanded him to judicial custody for 14 days. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for January 10.

Babu managed to cross the border on his third attempt. He reached Mandi Bahauddin, a city in Pakistan's Punjab, where he reportedly met the woman he had been communicating with online. Babu's family only became aware of his actions when the news went viral online. They stated that they had no knowledge of his plans and urged the government to bring their son back to India, as per News 18.

This news comes at a time when the love story of Seema Haider and Sachin is already making headlines. Seema also illegally entered India for love. She had been playing PUBG with Sachin, who later fell in love with her and crossed into India. The couple is now married.
