Five members of a family were found murdered in a hotel in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow early Wednesday, police said. The incident occurred at Hotel Sharanjit in the Naka area, where a woman and four of her children were found unconscious in the hotel room. Police have arrested the accused at the crime scene and further investigation is underway.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Central Lucknow, Raveena Tyagi stated that the accused has been identified as Arshad (24). He added that the victims, identified as Alia (9), Alshia (19), Aksa (16), Rahmeen (18) and their mother Asma, were all related to the accused.
Preliminary investigations suggest domestic disputes prompted the gruesome act. Arshad, a native of Agra, allegedly attacked his mother and sisters, leading to their deaths.
Forensic teams have been deployed to collect evidence and a detailed probe is underway. The police have assured us of swift action to uncover further details surrounding the incident.
In a separate incident, Lucknow’s Thakurganj police detained two individuals linked to the murder of a 50-year-old restaurant owner on Sunday. Preliminary investigations suggest the crime stemmed from an illicit relationship. The post-mortem revealed the victim was strangled with a towel found beneath his head.

Police suspect an insider's involvement, as the main gate and family room doors were locked from within, and no suspicious movement was captured on CCTV. It is believed the assailant entered and exited through the rooftop. The victim is survived by his wife and four daughters, police said.
