Amid the escalating situations in the Middle East war zone, LPG prices are fluctuating across the country. In New Delhi, the cost of domestic LPG has reached Rs 913.00 as of March 15. This represents a significant Rs 60 increase from last month's rate of Rs 853.00, marking the sharpest price jump recorded in the past 12 months. Data indicate a steady upward trend in LPG costs between April 2025 and March 2026, culminating in this latest revision for household consumers.

While prices remained steady on March 15 following the recent hike, the cost of a standard 14.2 kg cylinder varies significantly across the country:

Commercial Cylinder Distribution Resumes
In a move to support the business sector, the government has announced the resumption of commercial LPG distribution for industries in several states. This initiative aims to ensure that commercial establishments can operate without fuel-related disruptions.
Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary (Marketing and Oil Refinery) at the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, confirmed that supply lines are reopening. "In specific states, we are facilitating the direct supply of commercial cylinders to meet the operational demands of various industries," Sharma stated during a recent briefing. This decision is expected to provide much-needed relief to hotels, restaurants, and other commercial entities that rely heavily on LPG.
Government Reassurance: "No Need For Panic Booking"
Despite escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, authorities have assured the public that India maintains a robust LPG supply. While there has been a noticeable surge in bookings recently, officials emphasise that the supply chain is being closely monitored to guarantee uninterrupted service for both domestic and commercial users.
The government has urged citizens to refrain from panic booking, stating that retail outlets are adequately stocked and there is no shortage of gas in the country.
