MP Liquor Ban:  Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav made a significant announcement on Thursday during the closing ceremony of the National Kabaddi Tournament in Gotegaon, Narsinghpur district. He revealed that a liquor ban will be implemented in 17 cities of Madhya Pradesh, starting April 1. This decision comes in response to the religious significance of these cities and the faith of the people living there.

The proposal for a complete liquor ban in these 17 cities is expected to be approved in a cabinet meeting scheduled for January 24 in Maheshwar. Earlier, CM Yadav had expressed his intention to impose a total liquor ban in religious cities of Madhya Pradesh. Former Chief Minister Uma Bharti also welcomed this decision.

The list includes Yadav’s hometown, Ujjain, a part of Jabalpur town, Orchha, Salkanpur, Mandsaur, Omkareshwar, Mandla, Panna, Chitrakoot, Maihar, Amarkantak, Maheshwar, Multai, Mandleshwar and Barman Ghat.

In his announcement, CM Yadav stated, "Addiction destroys families. Starting April 1, all types of liquor, both domestic and foreign, will be prohibited in these 17 cities. This aligns with our commitment to fulfilling the promises we made when forming the government."

Additionally, CM Yadav mentioned that 2,700 new posts would be created and filled within the next five years.

"We are continuously working in the field of education and health. Narsinghgarh is situated on the banks of Maa Narmada, Maheshwar is also situated on the banks of Narmada. Cultural rituals are being held across the country. Baba Vishwanath is smiling due to Devi Ahilyabai. We have also resolved that wherever Lord Krishna has set foot, religious places will be developed there. Apart from this, a big decision will be taken in Maheshwar tomorrow (24 January). We will make each of our places a center of religious faith. The habit of drug addiction in society has destroyed families. We declare complete prohibition of liquor in 17 different religious cities. No Indian, no foreign. We will implement complete prohibition," he said.
