- Six young men died in Badnawar-Ujjain highway crash.

Naidunia Corrrespondent, MP: A horrific road accident near Panchakwasa village on the Badnawar-Ujjain four-lane highway claimed the lives of six young men on Sunday afternoon. The accident occurred at around 1 pm when a Maruti Eeco carrying the 7 men from Ujjain towards Gujarat collided head-on with an out-of-control truck travelling on the wrong side of the road.
According to preliminary information, the six men, reportedly residents of Vadodara, Gujarat, were returning home after visiting the Mahakal Temple in Ujjain. The impact of the collision was so severe that the Eeco was completely wrecked, trapping the occupants inside.
The truck-trolley, bearing registration number GJ 39 DB 9248, was reportedly travelling towards Ujjain on the wrong side of the Badnawar-Ujjain four-lane highway. It was loaded with metal items. Meanwhile, the Maruti Eeco, bearing registration number GJ 17 CK 6134, was travelling from Ujjain towards Gujarat when the two vehicles collided head-on.
Six people died in the accident, while another person sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Badnawar Civil Hospital for treatment. The truck driver reportedly fled the scene following the collision.
Passersby alerted the police soon after the accident. Police personnel reached the spot within about 10 minutes. Badnawar police station in-charge Amit Singh Kushwaha and Tehsildar Suresh Nagar also arrived at the scene with police personnel.
The victims were trapped inside the mangled vehicle, and police and villagers had to break the windows to recover the bodies. The seriously injured passenger was also pulled from the wreckage and immediately taken by ambulance to Badnawar Civil Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.
Following the accident, traffic on the four-lane highway was briefly disrupted. Police personnel soon cleared the road and restored the movement of traffic.
Police have informed the families of the deceased in Gujarat. After the necessary panchnama procedures, the bodies were shifted to the mortuary at Badnawar Civil Hospital. Post-mortem examinations will be conducted before the bodies are handed over to their families.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the collision and are also working to trace the truck driver who fled the scene.
