Madhya Pradesh News: Two men who tried to throw six stray dogs into an overflowing river in Satna, Madhya Pradesh, have been charged with animal cruelty by the police, according to news agency PTI. The police took action following the release of a social media video that went viral showing locals rescuing stray dogs from the accused.
Locals Parimal Tripathi and Brijesh Yadav appear to have taken the video on Friday at approximately 11 AM when they heard some crying noise from the e-rickshaw's luggage.
When they requested the driver to unzip the sack after forcing him to halt, the driver reportedly gave evasive answers. Six stray dogs with their mouths and limbs brutally bound were discovered when the two ordered the driver to open the sacks as their suspicions grew.

As soon as the video went viral, Superintendent of Police (SP) Ashutosh Gupta ordered a team to take action. Kotwali police station in-charge Shankhdhar Dwivedi told PTI that, "Two persons riding a motorcycle grew suspicious after hearing the cries of dogs from inside the sacks being carried in an e-rickshaw. They forced the driver to stop the vehicle and open the sacks, in which they found six dogs."
According to reports, the accused pair, Nandu and Pradeep Banshkar, were irritated by the increasing problem of street dogs in their community, Bajraha Tola. They allegedly took the drastic action because they were afraid the animals might hurt the inhabitants.
