Mahakumbh Mela Fire: Fire that broke out at Shankaracharya Marg earlier today was brought under control by the authorities. The officials stated that though 20-22 tents were burnt in the incident, no injury or loss of live was reported in the incident. Speaking to ANI, Chief Fire Officer Pramod Sharma, stated that the fire started from ISKCON tent and simultaneously it brought several tents under it.

A fire broke out in open area of sector 18 in Prayagraj's Mahakumbh Mela on Friday, leading to panic among the devotees present there. However, the administration was quick to react and it stated that the situation is under control. The authorities stated that several of the fire tenders are at the spot and rescue operations are underway.

The authorities urged the devotees to not panic and stated that no casualties have been reported, news agency PTI reported. Inspector Yogesh Chaturvedi of Khak Chowk police station assured that the fire is largely under control.

“A fire broke out at a camp near Tulsi Chauraha on Old GT Road. However, firefighters have managed to bring the blaze largely under control,” Chaturvedi was quoted as saying by the Indian Express. He further said that the fire department officials are also present at the scene to oversee the operation.

Chief fire officer Pramod Sharma said that almost 15 tents got destroyed by the fire, adding that no major casualties have been reported. He said that the bad road made it hard for the officials to reach at the site, but they managed to control the fire within minutes, reported PTI. He further said that the cause of fire is being investigated by the officials.

This is the third reported fire incident from the ongoing Mahakumbh mela which began on January 13 and will conclude on February 26. Earlier last month, cylinder blasts in Sector 19 of the mela region destroyed several cylinder blasts. The blast was so explosive that people standing several kilometers away could also record it in their phones.

However, the authorities stated that no causalities were reported as the flames were extinguished immediately. Another fire broke out in Sector 2 of Mela ground on January 25, where two parked cars caught fire in the early hours of the day. However, the authorities assured that the blaze was contained and no major casualties were reported.
