The Maharashtra Legislature will felicitate the Supreme Court Chief Justice Bhushan Gavai on July 8 after he assumed the post in May this year. The felicitation ceremony will take place inside the legislature complex, in the Central Hall of the Vidhan Bhavan.

CJI is also scheduled to address the gathering on the topic  "The Constitution of India", the legislature secretariat stated in an official release on Sunday. The programme has been organised in honour of Gavai’s appointment to the highest judicial post. 

Earlier Today, the Chief Justice of India visited his alma mater in Mumbai and interacted with kids. Gavai visited his old school, Chikitsak Samuh High School in Girgaon, Mumbai, where he studied from standards 3 to 7 in Marathi medium.

CJI expressed his gratitude to his teachers for their contribution to his life and credited them for shaping his debating skills and inculcating values of equality and social benevolence. 

CJI shared a nostalgic moment from his past, saying, "Mother would give me 20 paisa. I would walk towards Mantralaya to catch the BEST bus number 5 to Gaiwadi and then walk some more to school each day. The bus ticket cost 5 paise. In those days, a samosa patti would cost 5 paise with homemade jam, and misal pav would cost 10 paise."

Maharashtra Minister and local members of legislative assembly were also present along with CJI Gavai, who promised to help with paperwork to install a lift in 3 storey school building.
