Mahua Moitra, former MP and Trinamool Congress candidate from Krishnanagar Lok Sabha Seat, again found herself tangled in fresh controversy after a video of one of her interviews went viral across social media platforms. In the video, Mahua could be seen answering the questions of an interviewer while travelling in an open-roof vehicle with her associates during the campaigning in her Lok Sabha constituency. In response to a question over what is her source of energy, Mahua could be heard replying something, which was followed by a laugh shared by people present at the spot.
Many X users, while sharing the video, claimed that Mahua's reply to the question that 'what was her of energy,' was "sex." Soon after the clip went viral, users across the platform started sharing the video with the same caption.
One such user shared the video while writing: "Journalist: what’s your source of energy? Mahua: Sex, I mean is this woman for real?"

However, soon after the video clip went viral, the interviewer Tamal Saha, who is a journalist with the YouTube channel 'The Truth', clarified Mahua's response saying that it was "eggs" which she replied, not "sex" as claimed by some users.
"Let me clarify since this is my interview. I asked @MahuaMoitra: What’s your source of energy in the morning? Mahua Moitra replied: EGGS …(anda) This is ridiculous how the bhakt mandali has distorted it to make it sound like sex. The audio is being tampered deliberately," the interviewer replied to the rumours on the social media platform X.

I asked @MahuaMoitra : What’s your source of energy in the morning.
Mahua Moitra replied : EGGS …(anda, dim)
This is ridiculous how the bhakt mandali has distorted it to make it sound like s*x. The audio is being tampered…
He also alleged the audio tampering by some trolls.

Mahua Moitra is currently facing a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation in the cash-for-question case. On December 8, she was expelled as a Lok Sabha Member of Parliament (MP) after the Ethics panel's determination of her guilt in the 'cash-for-query' case. The TMC leader has however denied the allegations and claimed she was being targeted as she had raised questions on the deals of the Adani Group.
"Neither has Lok Pal uploaded any referral order on the website as per Lokpal Act and nor has CBI put out anything official. 'Sources' telling journos as per usual media circus. Hope Rs 13,000 crore Adani coal scam merits CBI PE before my witchhunt," Moitra had said on X in November.
