In his maiden reaction over the sexual assault allegations, actor Jayasurya said he will be initiating legal action over ‘false allegations’, which have been laid out against him in the streak of sexual assault and rape allegations in the Mollywood industry.

Two Malayalam industry actors, including Minu Muneer, have filed cases against Jayasurya.

“I have decided to move forward with this legally. My legal team will be looking after the rest of the proceedings regarding this case. False allegations are easy to make for anyone who lacks a conscience. I only hope one realises that facing a false accusation of harassment is just as painful as the harassment itself,” Jayasurya posted on Instagram.

"A lie always travels faster than the truth but I believe the truth will prevail. All the legal proceedings to prove my innocence will continue. I have complete faith in our judicial system. Thank you to those who contributed to making this birthday the most painful one," he added.

The Hema Committee report has created a furore in the Malayalam film industry. It was established in response to the sexual assault of a female actor in a moving car in Kerala.

The 235-page report, which contains names of witnesses and the accused, states that the entire Malayalam film industry is under the control of 10-15 male producers, directors, and actors.

Over 17 cases have surfaced so far, where actresses have come out against several prominent actors and producers.

Besides, the committee's report uncovered that female actors in the Kerala film industry often lack access to proper amenities, including toilets and changing rooms at shooting locations.

Additionally, it ascertained that women or girls, who are approached by production companies or certain individuals, are frequently pressured to make "adjustments" or "compromises" for opportunities. The report highlighted that the terms "compromise" and "adjustment" are commonly understood among women in the Malayalam film industry, implying that women are expected to be available for sex on demand.
